Service Welding

Service Welding

Service Welding holds a strategic position in the Nulu renaissance neighborhood just east of the Central Business District of downtown Louisville, KY. The 4+ acre Service Welding site is situated in the heart of Nulu between East Market Street and East Main Street.

The Nulu district has film and photography studios, an art glass studio and kilns, art galleries, shops, restaurants, and cafes. The owners of Service Welding engaged Mr. Hill in a 6 month assignment to develop a long term vision for their land holdings. The completed plan recommended the restoration and redevelopment of two early 20th century brick warehouse that have high ceilings, skylights and a clerestory as a center of cultural production to house theatrical workshops, studios and a film production facility.

Other recommendations included the development of small shops along Billy Goat Strut Alleyway and the development of a new Masters of Fine Arts Building for the University of Louisville.

The total plan added 300,000 square feet of new uses carefully integrated into the fabric of the Nulu community.
