Gulfstream Village
HALLANDALE, FL
South Florida’s
world-famous grand thoroughbred race track
New retail and entertainment village addition
J. Richard Hill & Co. produced the retail, dining, and entertainment strategy for the Village at Gulfstream Park, located in Hallandale, Florida on the site of the world-famous Gulfstream Thoroughbred Race Track. The plan for the 800,000 square-foot project envisioned a new casino and the addition of 400,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, cinemas, and entertainment. The casino opened in 2008, and the retail opened in 2010.
The plan for Gulfstream called for a Mediterranean-style pedestrian village with sidewalk cafes, lush landscaping, fountains, water gardens, and a cluster of restaurants situated around the paddock area of the race track.
Working closely with auto magnate Frank Stronach and his Magna Entertainment Company, J. Richard Hill & Co. produced the market research, financial feasibility, and merchandising strategy for the project, and collaborated on the design with Stronach and his in-house design team. Upon the completion of the plan, J. Richard Hill & Co. was engaged to implement the plan with developer Forest City.
The operating project includes Crate & Barrel, West Elm, Pottery Barn, The Container Store, Z Gallerie, Williams-Sonoma, and Brio Tuscan Grille, Yard House, and III Forks.
